For The Love of Upcycling!

I've never thought I was really talented in anything. I just enjoyed my hobbies which included jewelry making, crocheting, scrapbooking, papercrafting, and now home decor. I loved making things since I was in grade school. My favorite part of school was making crafts or art. I used to love drawing and my sister was my first model when I was 9 years old.

I became a mom some 13 years ago, I kind of fell back into crafts when I had my first child. Off and on making simple things, like blankets and scarfs. Work kind of took over, then school, I just stopped crafting all together.

Then I was injured at work and have been home with my kids for about 6 years. Which is kind of blessing because I didn't realize how much I missed out on my kids and just being home. About 3 years into living at home, I rediscovered that I love crafting after all. I reunited with a friend from high school, now my best friend. Turned out she loves crafting. I became hooked. I could raid all the Michael's, Hobby Lobby, and JoAnn stores in the neighborhood and still make several runs to all the thrift stores just finding supplies and treasures to upcycle.

I've help my bestie with her craft fair. Didn't get to do much, but it was still an interesting experience. I'd like to do a couple of craft fairs in the future. I gift a couple items here and there that I make myself. My biggest purchase was when my boyfriend bought me my very first paper cutting machine, Silhouette Cameo. I about died, I made Christmas stuff for my Avon business and for my first holiday craft fair. It was so fun.

Nothing caused the greatest satisfaction until I started making things for my home. That's when I found my niche. Home decor. It made me feel like my place was now my home. I sit in my living room or bedroom and admire my handiwork. I can't believe I made it myself sometimes. Or that I upcycled it. Changes the whole meaning to Reduce-Reuse-Recycle.

I've decided to share my love for crafting, upcycling and all things fun. I can't wait to show and tell and hear from other fellow crafters.
